Redberry Farm George: Strawberry Picking, Maze and Tickets

Plan a walk-up Redberry Farm outing near George, buy only the activities you want and leave enough time for the hedge maze.
You can turn up at Redberry Farm near George and buy ordinary activity tickets at the Farm Stall. Entry to the farm is free and you pay for the activities you choose. For a short stop, pick strawberries if the field is open. If the hedge maze is the reason you are going, give it its own time and follow the farm's advice to enter by 14:00.
Choose what to pay for at the Farm Stall
The farm's visitor information says ordinary visitors do not need to book. A family can decide on the day which people will pick berries, enter the maze or ride the miniature train. Ask the farm about group arrangements if you are organising a large outing.
| Activity | Published price when checked | What to allow for |
|---|---|---|
| Pick your own strawberries | R35 for the listed small container | Each person going into the field needs a container. Confirm the field is open and whether any other size is offered. |
| Hedge maze | R60 per person | The farm advises being prepared to walk for one to two hours on uneven ground. An adult must accompany children under ten. |
| Redberry Express | R30 per person | The operator describes one loop of about five minutes. Allow separate time for any wait. |
Prices come from the individual activity pages and may change. If you want a rough budget, two people picking with small containers and doing the maze would pay R190 at the listed rates. Two people who only pick would pay R70. Confirm at the stall before the group splits up, especially when some adults want to accompany children without doing every activity themselves.
If you want the maze, the Redberry Express and the Giant Strawberry & Slide, ask for the Big 3 Package at the Farm Stall. Redberry lists it at R125 per person, Monday to Saturday, with no advance booking required. Strawberry picking is separate. The farm recommends allowing at least two hours for the bundle and requires adult accompaniment for children under ten in the maze and under six at the Giant Strawberry & Slide.
Pick first if your time is limited
The picking page says to buy a container at the Farm Stall, then head to the designated picking rows. The farm lists tickets from age two and asks every field entrant to have their own container. If you are bringing a child under two, ask staff how that rule applies before entering.
The farm advertises strawberries beyond the main season, but the picking activity is weather-dependent. Ask about actual field access before making a special trip for it. The rows are narrow with uneven ground. If picking is unsuitable for someone in your group, ask about a place to wait and whether the Farm Stall has berries for sale. The farm also asks visitors to keep eating out of the fields.
Leave more time if the maze is the main event
Redberry's maze page explains that the challenge is to find seven stations and stamp a card, rather than simply reach the exit. The site includes a tunnel and a lookout. Before paying, ask what can be skipped if someone in your group dislikes enclosed spaces or stairs. The farm recommends using the bathroom before entering because there are no facilities inside.
If the maze matters most, make it the first activity. That leaves you free to decide on picking or a meal afterwards. If you arrive late, choose the farm stall, food or another available activity before committing to the full maze. The 14:00 recommendation is a planning guide. Ask staff for the day's actual last entry.
Give a George transfer day room to move
The farm's published general hours are 09:00 to 16:00 Monday to Saturday, with closures on Sundays, Christmas Day and Good Friday. Weather can change the activities that run even when the farm itself is open. Check before leaving if you are counting on the maze, the berries or the miniature train.
Redberry is in Blanco on the George side of the Garden Route, near the airport. It works best as a short stop when you have enough time after a flight, or as a longer outing on a settled morning. On the way to a flight, work backwards from check-in and leave the maze for another visit if the time is tight. For the rest of the itinerary, our Garden Route nights guide helps separate transfer days from full activity days.
For a separate Cape Peninsula stay before heading east, check Aqua Terra availability in Simon's Town. Aqua Terra welcomes guests aged 12 and older.
