Cool Runnings Cape Town: Which Toboggan Tickets to Buy?

Posted on Tue November 3, 2026.

Compare single rides and shared packs, check who can share a sled and plan a dry-weather Cool Runnings visit in Bellville.

For a first visit to Cool Runnings in Bellville, choose a dry weather window and start with a single ride or a small bundle. You pay per rider, per ride, including when an adult and child share a sled. The operator allows one adult with one child on a sled, subject to its rules. Two adults have to ride separately. Spectators can enter for free.

Count riders before comparing ticket packs

The operator's 2026/27 price flyer lists single rides, shared packs and individual passes. A three-ride pack buys three rider entries, so count everyone who will actually get on a sled. Two people riding down the hill together use two entries.

Ticket in the 2026/27 flyer Published price When to consider it
Single ride R120 adult or R110 child Good when you want to try the track or only one person in the group is riding.
Three rides R330 adult or R300 child Useful for a few turns or sharing with someone eligible for the same category.
Happy Family Combo R960 for 12 rides Shared entries for a group that expects to use most of them.
Day Pass R790 per person Unlimited rides for one holder. The working-day and fast-pass versions have different rules and prices.

The flyer defines adults as 15 and older and children's tickets as ages 3 to 14. It says prices run to the end of September 2027. The venue's prices page also links to online sales. Check the current price and package terms where you pay. Old flyers and visitor reports show different pack sizes and prices.

For example, two adults and two children who each want just one ride would pay R460 at the listed single-ride rates. If all four take three rides, the 12-entry combo at R960 is less than two adult and two child three-ride packs at R1,260. Those examples compare the flyer prices before any online offer. If only two people want repeat rides, start by pricing what those two will use. Adults cannot use child entries according to the operator's FAQ.

Check who can share and who can ride alone

The operator lists a minimum rider age of three. Children aged three to seven must ride with a person aged 15 or older. For solo riders aged eight or over, its current flyer also specifies a minimum height of 1.35 m. The operator's FAQ lists a combined limit of 150 kg per sled and restricts sharing to an adult and child. If the rules leave you unsure how your group would be paired, ask the park before buying. Follow the on-site briefing and the staff's decision about participation.

Someone who prefers to watch can enter without buying rides. The park's FAQ says it is not wheelchair-friendly, although staff try to assist. Ask about the approach, seating and facilities before making the trip if someone needs step-free access, even if they do not plan to ride. A venue's age or height rules cannot establish personal suitability.

Keep the outing flexible around rain

The track is outdoors and closes in rain, including drizzle according to the FAQ. Normal hours vary between working days and weekends or holidays. Check opening times and contact the venue when the forecast is uncertain. Its current flyer explicitly lists a Christmas Day closure. A ticket purchase does not reserve a running track or a place in the queue.

The operator says ordinary visitors can buy rides on arrival. Groups of 20 or more should contact the venue first. Use its directions from Carl Cronje Drive for the Bellville entrance. The operator says ordinary unused ride tokens do not expire and are non-refundable. If you are visiting Cape Town only once, that is a reason to buy fewer rides first. Ask about the specific product if you choose a day pass or an online special.

If showers rule out the track, use our Cape Town wind and rain itinerary to move the outdoor outing and choose an indoor stop for that day.

For the False Bay part of your holiday, check Aqua Terra availability in Simon's Town and plan Bellville as a separate outing. Aqua Terra welcomes guests aged 12 and older.
