Book the Viljoensdrift river cruise before you decide what else to do near Robertson. The boat trip takes about 50 minutes on the Breede River, but the outing needs more time for check-in and food. Set your arrival time from the operator's confirmation, then decide whether to buy a picnic for the boat or have a meal on land.

Reserve a departure and leave time before it

Viljoensdrift lists a roughly 50-minute cruise on the Uncle Ben 2. Departures depend on reservations, and the operator asks visitors to book in advance. Choose a date and time in the operator's booking system and check the address on your confirmation. The estate is on the R317 outside Robertson. Give the drive, parking and reception their own time.

The river page asks guests to check in 60 minutes before departure. The linked booking pages and conditions say 45 minutes. Allow the longer window unless your confirmation says otherwise and ask reception when to collect the boarding pass. If you have a voucher, the conditions say you still need to reserve a date and time.

Choose your food plan

The operator says outside food and drinks aren't allowed. It directs cruise guests to buy items from its deli or restaurant, with the booking conditions specifically naming deli purchases for the boat. Confirm what can be brought aboard, particularly if you're considering a hot meal. The estate is cashless according to its visitor page. Bring an accepted card or digital payment option.

If you want a picnic on the boat, allow enough time to choose and pay for it before boarding. Ask about options directly if someone has an allergy or a dietary requirement. If you want a longer meal or prefer to eat after the trip, keep the boat as the fixed part and check the restaurant's kitchen hours before making that plan.

Keep the rest of the Robertson day flexible

Ask about boarding, seating and weather changes before booking if anyone in your group needs a particular arrangement. Read the current cancellation terms. If you're driving onwards on Route 62, leave room for the transfer and keep any other stop optional. If you're staying nearby, you can give the cruise and lunch their own part of the day without rushing to the next town.

A tasting is a separate option on the estate. Check the current offering and arrange a sober driver or other transport before choosing it. If the cruise doesn't run, find out what the operator can offer on land and whether it can move your booking. That way a boat cancellation doesn't have to decide the rest of the route.
