Sun City Day Visit: Valley of Waves, Tickets and the Maze

Posted on Tue November 3, 2026.

Book the right Sun City date, see what the Valley of Waves ticket includes and decide whether to add the Maze or pay for a second resort day.

If you're staying outside Sun City, buy the Valley of Waves day ticket online before you arrive. The current standard ticket covers entry to Sun City and the water park on the selected date. You can add the Maze of the Lost City on the same visit. A separate attraction such as the rope course has its own booking and fee. Choose one waterpark day first, then decide whether you need a second resort day at all.

Book the date before you drive to the main gate

A family staying at an off-site resort asked whether a Valley of Waves ticket limited them to the water park, whether other activities needed tickets and how to handle multiple days. The question matters because some older advice describes paying at the gate. Sun International's current day-visitor page says standard tickets are sold through Ticketpro and are unavailable for purchase at the resort. You can buy online on the day if there is capacity. For a weekend or a long drive, select a date before leaving.

The current Ticketpro listing says the ticket is valid on the chosen date and must be shown at the main entrance. If you plan to visit on two dates using the same day-visitor arrangement, check and buy entry for both dates. Before doing that, look at whether you would use the water park twice or spend the second day on a separate outing. A confirmed golf booking, an eligible membership or a resort stay has different access terms. Check that route with Sun International if it applies to you.

Compare the amount for the whole party on the calendar date, including children's ticket categories. Use the booking checkout because public holiday rates, ticket categories and packaged extras can affect the total. Ticketpro currently describes a resort voucher with the standard day ticket. Check where it is accepted and its redemption deadline before building the lunch budget around it.

Plan the water park around your group's priorities

Start with the experience everyone agrees on. The Valley of Waves page describes the Roaring Lagoon wave pool, Lazy River, rides and a children's area. Check the requirements for the attractions your group actually wants. Ticketpro lists a minimum height for designated rides and notes that individual restrictions can apply. Use those requirements to avoid promising a slide to a child before arrival. For a specific accessibility need, ask the operator about the route from parking, the changing facilities and the attraction itself.

Read the attraction's closing time and the separate time when the water features stop. For example, the operator's published summer hours are 09:00 to 18:00, with the water features ending at 17:30. Read any exception on the ticket page first. At the 3 November 2026 check, Ticketpro listed the Valley of Waves closed on 3 and 4 December 2026 and scheduled to reopen on 5 December. Recheck that notice if your holiday overlaps those dates.

Use the resort map to distinguish the main entrance, parking and Sun Central. Ticketpro says designated day-visitor parking is available. From Sun Central the operator directs visitors across the Bridge of Time to the water park. Ask for current internal transport and parking instructions if your party has mobility needs, lots of equipment or a timed activity. Allow enough time to reach the gate, park and walk before that appointment.

Add the Maze or book one separate activity

The Maze of the Lost City page includes Maze admission for Ticketpro day visitors. It is a distinct stop reached from Sun Central over a suspension bridge, with adult supervision required for under-12s on the bridge and in the Maze. If you are fitting both experiences into one day, give priority to whichever is the main reason for buying the ticket and leave the second activity flexible.

The Chimp & Zee rope course is an example of a separate booking. Sun International says the course price excludes day-visitor entrance and that departures depend on operating times. Ask about the applicable course, participation requirements and departure point before paying. Save both confirmations and leave time to get from the water park to the specified meeting point.

Use a second day where it adds something

A single Sun City ticket day can cover the water park and one other attraction at a relaxed pace. Choose a second resort day if the group wants another long swim or a separately confirmed activity that could not fit on day one. If the aim is variety, keep a separate day for the nearby Pilanesberg wildlife park. Make those gate and activity plans separately from the resort ticket. Combining everything into one day can leave little time for either attraction.

A holiday traveller asking what to pack for Sun City raises a practical point. Bring swimwear, footwear for walking between facilities and a change of clothes if you're going straight to dinner or the car. The water park excludes outside food and drink beyond its security checkpoint. Check the operator's current list and ask about any individual dietary arrangements before travel. Know which items you will carry, which can stay in the car and whether you need to hire a locker.

For a separate wildlife day, see our Pilanesberg self-drive and guided safari comparison before choosing transport and booking.

If your wider South African holiday includes the Cape Peninsula, check Aqua Terra's direct availability in Simon's Town for that separate stage. Aqua Terra welcomes guests aged 12 and older.
