Riebeek-Kasteel Olive Tastings: Plan a Weekend Half-Day

Compare Het Vlock Casteel and Kloovenburg for a Riebeek-Kasteel weekend, with a Saturday or Sunday tasting and time in the village.
For a Riebeek-Kasteel weekend built around olives, choose the tasting first and fit lunch around it. Book Het Vlock Casteel if you want a guided olive-oil tasting. Choose Kloovenburg if your group wants an olive-only tasting or the option to pair olives with wine. Saturday gives you more choice. For Sunday, start with Kloovenburg and confirm the final tasting time.

Book a formal tasting at Het Vlock Casteel
The producer's own page describes a formal extra-virgin olive-oil tasting lasting one to two hours and says booking is essential. It lists optional add-ons, including a pairing and a visit to the shop to try other products made on the farm. Ask which parts are included, then give the tasting enough room before lunch. If you only want to browse, check the shop's hours separately.
The EVOOSA industry visitor guide lists Het Vlock Casteel as closed on Sundays and closing at 14:00 on Saturdays. Check the producer's current hours for your date, especially on a public holiday. For a Saturday day trip, aim to get the tasting confirmed before you make plans for a late lunch.
Choose olive-only or a mixed tasting at Kloovenburg
Kloovenburg's tasting page offers an olive-only tasting and several wine-and-olive pairings. It describes olive oils, table olives, dips and salts, and identifies its olive-only booking as indoors. If your group includes people who don't drink, ask whether you can book the two formats together at the same time. For allergies or other dietary requirements, ask about ingredients and how samples are served before booking.
Kloovenburg's direct booking and contact pages list Sunday tasting-room hours. Check your slot and the last available seating because opening hours and bookable times are different. Its R46 estate address is separate from whatever restaurant you choose in the village. Confirm the arrival point and leave time between bookings.
Build the half-day around one appointment
On Saturday, book a formal tasting for the morning if learning about oils is the main reason you're coming. Leave the next part of the day for lunch and a walk in the village. If you'd rather compare bottles, ask which products you can try at the shop and decide whether an additional tasting is worth adding. There is time to appreciate more at one stop if the group isn't watching the clock.
On Sunday, choose a confirmed Kloovenburg appointment and keep a village lunch or coffee as the flexible part. Give yourself time to look at the historic Main Street buildings from public areas. The Oude Kerk photograph shows an exterior and does not establish museum opening. Ask your chosen venue directly if an indoor visit or a table is important to you.
If you're still deciding where to try olive oil in the wider Cape region, our Tokara and Morgenster guide covers a different day around Stellenbosch and Somerset West. For a separate Cape Peninsula stay, Aqua Terra in Simon's Town welcomes guests aged 12 and over. Check Aqua Terra availability.
