Fish Hoek's Jager's Walk: Beachfront or Guided Visit?

Plan a short walk at Fish Hoek, choose between Jager's Walk and a guided heritage outing, and check the current beach works notice.
Start at Fish Hoek Beach if you want a short outing that can include Jager's Walk, also known as the Cat Walk. The path follows the rocky shore near the beach. Treat it as an out-and-back from the beachfront and turn around when you have had enough. If you want the town's history as well as the water view, look at the separate guided option.

Start at Beach Road and keep the walk flexible
The City's Fish Hoek Beach listing gives Beach Road as the address and lists parking. The City places the beach end of Jager's Walk in front of the Galley Restaurant. Use the public beachfront entrances and follow signs for the walkway. Keep enough time to return to your own starting point. You can stay near the beach if the path is wet, closed or less suitable than you expected.
The City lists partial disability access at Fish Hoek Beach. Ask which beach facilities and approach that covers if someone needs a step-free route. It does not establish a step-free route along Jager's Walk. Check the surface, weather and any posted restrictions when you arrive, and leave swimming and the rocks out of the plan if the group only wants a walk.
Check the beach works notice if visiting in November 2026
The City's 25 September 2026 notice identifies the area between Jager's Walk by the Galley and the lifesaving building for beach sand work. It gives mid-November 2026 as a provisional finish and says beaches remain open during the programme. Follow signs and keep clear of any work areas and machinery. Check for a newer City update if you need to know whether the work is still active.
Choose a guided walk if you want the village story
Cape Peninsula Walking Tours lists Tides of Time, a guided outing that includes Jager's Walk and continues into Fish Hoek to discuss its history and buildings. The operator says the meeting and end points and timing depend on the weather and are agreed when you make contact. Ask about the actual distance, walking surface and arrangement on the day. The tour is a separate booking from an independent beachfront stroll.
If your priority is a walk connecting two False Bay villages, use our Muizenberg to St James walkway guide. Choose Fish Hoek when a single beachfront and a short return to where you started suit your group better.
