Ceres Cherry Picking at Klondyke: Plan Your 2026 Visit

Posted on Tue November 3, 2026.

Plan a Klondyke cherry-picking day near Ceres with the provisional 2026 harvest window, cashless payment and a check before you drive.

Plan a cherry-picking day near Ceres only after Klondyke Cherry Farm confirms that pick-your-own has started. For the 2026 season, the farm gives a weather-dependent window from the last week of November to the end of December. Its page still asks visitors to wait for a confirmed opening. Check again before driving to the orchard, especially near either end of the season.

Confirm picking before you leave

Start with Klondyke's cherry-season page and its updates. Ask whether visitors can pick fruit on your day and what to do if conditions change. The farm is in the Koue Bokkeveld, about 30 km beyond Ceres town according to the operator. Put the farm address into your route and give that final leg its own time. If you're setting out from Cape Town, avoid adding a rigid afternoon booking until you know when you are likely to get to the orchard.

The farm's published trading hours for the season are 08:30 to 16:15. Those are useful once it confirms picking is operating. Ask about public holiday and last entry if you plan to arrive later in the day. A cottage booking and picking availability are separate. If picking is the reason for an overnight, check both before paying.

Budget for entry and the fruit you pick

Klondyke's page lists entry at R40 per person, with R20 for children under 10, and R95 per kilogram of picked cherries. Confirm those prices for the date you go. It says the farm is cashless. The farm describes giving pickers a container at entry and weighing it at the farmstall afterwards. Agree how much you want to take home, especially if several people in the family are each filling a container.

Make it a farm outing instead of a dash

The farm describes picnic facilities and braais only in designated areas. Confirm what is available, bring water and pack a layer. Klondyke notes that it can be windy and cooler than Ceres town. At the orchard, follow the staff instructions about which rows are available. Leave enough time to pay for the fruit before the drive back.

If you want to stay, Ceres Tourism lists self-catering cottages and camping at Klondyke. Check the unit and its facilities separately. For a simple day trip, picking and a picnic are enough to give the drive a purpose. If the farm delays opening or ends the season early, change the activity before you commit to the full drive.

Adding a separate Cape Peninsula stay? Aqua Terra in Simon's Town welcomes guests aged 12 and over. Check Aqua Terra availability.

Editorial review by Aqua Terra. Klondyke's provisional 2026 season information and Ceres Tourism's listing checked 3 November 2026. Check the farm's latest picking notice before travelling.
